I would recommend The Magnuson Hotel if you’re looking for a reasonably priced clean motel room and friendly service.

We booked with Expedia at a very reasonable price. The room was clean and had all the amenities one would expect…tv, microwave, refrigerator. The owners were extremely friendly and ready to please.

Terrible.

Accidentally left the card in the room while I went to get something out of the car and the door automatically locked me out. No one in the office and no one answers the phone. Avoid this place and go somewhere else where you are actually able to get ahold of someone. Not worth it.

Old motel, Great service

First, we don't normally stay is a motel with few stars. But we are grateful for the vacancy as Ely was pretty much sold out the night we were there and the place we stay at frequently was sold out. The best part was the price and the clerk. Michelle us very friendly, available when needed, and helpful. So why three stars? I can't rate against other motels in this price range as I don't that experience. The room was clean and had enough room for one night. At first, we didn't think the TV worked but it was the remote that didn't work. Batteries, I guess. We did figure out how to operate it manually and were able to get the channel we like. There were no cups in the room, but Michelle brought some right down when we asked. We didn't take a shower because it looked like there might be some unusual substance in the tub. Upon further inspection I think it was rust where there was a chip in the porcelain. Parking is tight but works. The place is quite old and hasn't been updated. It was quite at night and about two blocks from the Rack where we usually eat dinner when in town. Also, there's a small park down the block.

Terrible place

This place is absolutely terrible. The pictures are completely misleading and must be deep fakes or AI generated or something. We walked in, took a look around and immediately left to find somewhere else to stay and just took the $100 loss. Paying $50 would be too much for this place. The two different staff members I dealt with, one while checking in before I saw what I saw, and the other when returning my key the next morning, were quite nice and I in no way blame them. Spend the extra money and stay somewhere else.

uninspiring and worn out

Worn and not properly maintained, Though not expensive it displays inadequacies in the details. All peripherals are not up to standard. Understaffed, amateurish, outspoken but not in essence, secondary areas in unkempt state in terms of order and cleanliness. Well presented though. One of the many hotels in Ely town. The fundamental room structure is O.K. though and reception is very kind and cooperative. The enterpreneurship has let it down
