Nice place to stay

The furniture was obviously old but the room has enough space and a good view of the stadium and the castle :) daily workout can be done at the stadium starting or ending the day. The hotel has a bar for dining or drinking, breakfast was okay.

Really don’t understand how this mediocre place got 4 stars! Most disappointing.

Booked a couple of days in Sporthotel Kapfenberg mainly because of the advertised indoor pool and sauna, which unfortunately was closed on the chosen days despite the statement on the booking confirmation that the spa would be open.

Adequate

Not many options in the area and the Sporthotel is basic and adequate, but that's it. Clean rooms, but not much else iof comfort ameneties. Breakfast is ok, with decent selection. Location is just off the main road and quiet.

Again very positive stay

Had the opportunity to stay again in Kapfenberg and choose the Sporthotel again.
Unfortunately it was a monday night and the SPA area was closed (not their influence) so I decided to have dinner in the hotels restaurant. The kitchen is traditional and the Food was excellent. The service was very friendly and competent - Overall a very pleasant stay. I'll be back!!

Just not sure

I was booked here on business. The room overlooked the stadium. I think the highlight was that it was clean and you could open the window! This place features angles and colours from the 70's. On checking in it was a bar server (check in area is in the bar area that permits smoking and boy do they smoke!) that yelled for someone to check me in. Now that I had enjoyed second hand smoke for a few minutes I was informed I was on the second floor. That was fine except the elevator was out of order.......no offer to help me with my full size suitcase. I hump he'd it up two levels and discovered that the elevator door was banging back and forth. I could hear that for over two hours.
The breakfast is fresh and nicely presented with great coffee but in order to get to it you have to go though the smoking area! That is disgusting. What year is it Austria?
It sure would be nice if the hotel could stretch to a box of Kleenex, an additional trash can and a face cloth.
This hotel is near the old town and a new supermarket/deli called Billa.
Oh yes, it says there is free internet throughout the hotel, including rooms but don't count on it. We tried phones, iPad and computer and if I said we could get on once in a while that would be generous.
Other than having to be there for business I probably would not return. Kapfenberg is a nice little town.
