Dit gezellige pension biedt moderne slaapkamers en 2 appartementen en ligt in het voetgangersgebied van Speyer, naast de Oude Poort (Altpörtel), die de bezienswaardigheid van de stad is.

Once and never again.
We arrived on Sunday afternoon at the back of the hotel. The few parking spaces were occupied!
Because the staff, despite making eye contact, did not open the back entrance door, we dragged our luggage on a detour to the main entrance in the pedestrian zone.
Here we learned that we would not be staying in the main building, but in a side street, 150 meters away.
So we marched there and were appalled by the exterior of the house and even more by the "view" from the window. The only pleasant aspect was the modern, clean furnishings of the house.
And now the shock: in the restaurant of Maximilian, there was nothing more for dinner besides a tarte flambée or salad, as they were in the process of closing. "It is Sunday, and after all, one has worked all day." However, they showed us two simple places nearby that are open until 10:00 PM. So there was pizza…
For breakfast (again 180m to the main building), they offered us a mini version with 1 hard-boiled egg, 1 roll, a croissant, jam, and 1 cup of coffee. Anyone who wants sausage, cheese, or even a second cup of coffee must pay extra! In the end, I retrieved our car from the post parking lot and paid a parking fee of €16.00 for one night.
We were served and left early after one (of the two booked) overnight stays.
Never again Maximilian and also not Speyer!

No telephone help possible! no availability on the woe? or evening!
that means looking for yourself in the pedestrian zone where you can park to pick up the keys!
NO PARKING to unload or check in!!!(no one available by phone)you have to run to the bar !!!! very unpleasant!
parking assistance or search or show deszimmer impossible ! as the waiter wants to work and has no time for help!

Absolute horror
I travel a lot – both privately and professionally – but I have really rarely experienced such a miserable service. Already at check-in it was shown: Here the guest is not welcome, but annoying. From reception to management – the handling was unfriendly, condescending and in no way professional.
Questions were answered annoyed, wishes were not taken into account and the general tone was outrageous. Instead of providing a relaxing break, you felt like you were standing in the way. The entire staff was overwhelmed or disinterested – and this with a house that promises much more at first glance.
Conclusion: Absolutely not a recommendation. Those who value hospitality, respect and a minimum of service should avoid this hotel.

This a good hotel hotel let down by a very poor check in procedure and malfunctioning AC.

A UNIQUE experience
Unfortunately, the journey was a bit cumbersome. The room key had to be picked up at a café before you had to walk back a few hundred meters to the actual Guest house. The contact was rather professional-distanced. You had to wait a long time before the key was handed over. On departure there is no contact at all: you simply leave the key in the room or throw it into a corresponding box at the exit.
Once in the room we were surprised by a true ant invasion that stretched across the floor and (desk) table. The complaint on our part was rather uninvolved: "They'll take care of it." No sign of apologetic words or even gestures.
After all, they managed to set up a bait trap for ants within a few hours. However, the ant corpses that had accumulated until then were left in memory of the guests.
So on our part unfortunately - despite the nice rooms - no recommendation whatsoever!
