Very disappointing
Breakfast paid and reserved the day before for €9. No buffet is present: no food, no one is present. Finally a person arrives and, having served me a hot chocolate, tells me it's €1 for a coffee. I told him that I paid €9 for breakfast. She tells me she doesn't know. I asked him to bring me different foods and I got a slice of ham, some defrosted bread and butter. The hotel website indicates free wifi, you have to ask for the real code which is normally specified in the room and the latter is very unstable, impossible to work in these conditions.

Never again!
The hotel is modern, clean and centrally located next to transport, shops...
That said its lacking in a few key areas that would make all the difference.
The shower/bath has a very low ceiling with hot water constantly fluctuating.
Rooms lack complimentary water bottles.
Only three channels were available on the dated flatscreen tv.
Several members of the breakfast crew were simply rude and/or arrogant when a polite attempt to be seated was made and/or coffee requested.
By comparison, on a recent trip to Hong Kong I stayed at 2 separate hotels which provided a cell phone including free calls/data and free items from the bar fridge. The room rates was 30% less than the Alpha-Palmiers...
A new standard in hotels has been set, let's hope they step up. If not, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

If you have nowhere else to go
We stayed here on our way to Italy. We had a positive welcome but the room was pretty grim. Very very basic by standards today. No soap in the dispenser and tiny towels, but there was hot water. Breakfast was ok, fresh pastries and passable coffee. Would be more acceptable if very cheap which it wasn't probably because of the area.

More Gamma than Alpha
Okay, I'm not a native speaker, but I'll try it in English this time :-)
Its my second stay in Alpha Hotel Annecy-Êpagny, unfortunetly I was here last year, too, but nothing turned for the better
One of the travelers before me rated: "...very basic", I do not agree, I would say very poor!
The rooms are small, poor furniture, cold, dark, bad smell
The service is poor, nobody speaks any common language, they talk to you in french even if they recognize that you do not understand a word.
Well, I stayed in 4 or 5 other hotels in Annecy and most of them were even more worse, so Alpha is the blind leader of the blind or lets say it in this way: If god needs to punish you he'll send you to an Annecy hotel like Alpha :-/
Okay, at least they have Internet, not one outlet to put in your notebook but WIFI...So I give 1 of 5 points

Do not go there!
I have just returned from Alpha Hotel Annecy feeling very disappointed. I felt the web site I booked my stay with was misleading as I was led to belileve that the hotel was in a good location close to amenities. Every day I had to take a bus into the town centre. Although it only cost 1 Euro the buses were not regular and the journey took about 40 mins. Also the last bus was at 7.30 pm and a taxi cost 30 Euros so staying out late is very expensive.
On arrival at the hotel staff attemped to charge me for my stay although I had already paid and had the confirmation voucher to prove it. This was very difficult because the staff did not speak any english whatsover.
My room was a nice size and very clean but had no fridge or tea making facilities. The only time hot drinks were available was at breakfast. The hotel has no bar and the reception closed at 9pm which I found very inconvient. There was no room service just a vendi ng machine by the front door.
When I checked out of the hotel again staff attempted to charge me more money, this time 70 euros. When i inspected the bill, with a little help from my French phrase book, they were trying to charge me for not one but 2 breakfasts per day although i had never even had one! Luckily there was a lady there who could translate for me so we managed to communicate.
On the whole I think the hotel is extremely basic and i would only recommend it to people who are fluent in French. I would never return to the hotel but I think it would be ok for maybe one night or a weekend but any longer is just frustrating.
