This hotel is in a great location. There were a few minor problems: a broken window shade, a TV with no cable box (there was a 2nd TV in the suite) and a card key that didn't always work, but the staff was always accommodating and quick to fix any problem. The breakfast was very good.

Find another hotel than this. It's not worth the money.

The hotel is not one you have to choose if you want to be treated properly and at the same time also want to have it comfortable.
First and foremost, you had to stand and wait for 20 minutes when you arrived at the reception and called the hotel number.
When you come to your room, you find to your horror that it is without air conditioning, even though it is stated in many places that it exists. There was easily 30 degrees in the room with 1 small window that could be opened that did not give any air circulation. They tried to get in touch with the reception but after waiting for another 10 minutes for someone to show up, I gave up.
Moreover, there was no flexibility on the part of the hotel when you had to shorten your stay due to serious circumstances in the family at home. You were forced to pay for two nights even if you only had one.
So overall go no big bow out about this hotel and find something else nearby

Solid hotel in a central location.

The Engel city hotel is centrally located in the old town, just a few minutes' walk from the marketplace and Ettlingen Castle.
Both check-in and check-out were quick.
Our friendly, bright room on the first floor was equipped with a comfortable bed, a nice, dust-free vinyl floor, and enough closet space. Unfortunately, the small bathroom only had a shower over the bathtub (the only disadvantage we could find). There is no air conditioning, which could be uncomfortable in the height of summer.
The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. For the night in the hotel underground garage, we paid nine euros, which is a fair price. Thus, the hotel is recommendable in almost all respects!

Simply perfect

A wonderful little hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Our room we liked very much, very tastefully decorated and comfortable. Even with in-house reading. The breakfast buffet was delicious and varied. Everything fresh, with various coffee specialties and even Bircher cereal. We used the sauna every night, which was also great for relaxing. And the value for money is perfect.
