Wonderful! If you get the chance to stay at this amazing place, don’t hesitate!
A beautiful and relaxing base from which to explore Sumba. Wonderfully friendly and professional staff and students. Rooms are excellently thought out to every last detail. The housekeeping service was superb - we loved the turndown service with the towel art, fresh flowers and shell messages! Consistently excellent food and drinks. Lovely pool area and sunset terrace. Gorgeous yoga shala. Brilliant concierge service for arranging excursions, restaurant reservations, laundry and anything really! Loads of bicycles available to borrow for the short rides to close by beaches which we pretty much had to ourselves. It was an absolute joy to be there from start to finish of our stay. If I had to choose a standout memory, it would be the exceptional massage I had in the beautiful bamboo pavilion spa, with the breezes and birdsong coming from the gardens outside.
We would have been 100% delighted to stay here anyway but the fact the hotel is part of a foundation which trains young Sumbanese students for hospitality careers added another dimension and made for a memorable and rewarding experience.

A beautiful, tranquil stay
A magical oasis in a quiet, safe and tranquil area of Sumba. This was the perfect getaway from the noise and bustle of daily life.
The staff at Maringi were exceptional - friendly and professional at all points of our stay. They were so helpful offering information each day to make our time on Sumba the most enjoyable and relaxing it could be.
The resort itself is stunning. A huge amount of care has gone into building a sustainable and stunning place to stay. The rooms were spotlessly clean, comfortable and spacious. We had a truly beautiful night’s sleep.
We had a full board package (drinks not included) and the food was stunning. My dietary requirements were carefully taken into consideration and all food tasted fresh and delicious. It was wonderful having a range of different items each day.
The training of the young people working at Sumba is wonderful. They so clearly want to improve their own skills in hospitality and it showed with the daily messages, and tiny details we noticed throughout our stay. Thank you to everyone we interacted with during our time there.
Finally, there are tours and other activities that Maringi can offer. We did go on a tour and truly enjoyed ourselves, just be mindful you are visiting a less developed island within Indonesia - expect less facilities. Be conscious of where you are in the world.

Perfect! Definitely support!
An absolute highlight on Sumba! We were warmly welcomed by Uss, who guided us with great enthusiasm and impressive expertise through one of the largest cashew plantations in Indonesia.
The tour was incredibly interesting and varied. We learned a lot about cashew cultivation on Sumba, the harvest and processing, as well as about the various products that are manufactured here. It was especially exciting to try fresh cashew fruits directly from the tree – a taste we were not familiar with at all from Europe. The honey tasting as well as the latte macchiato with homemade cashew milk and the iced coffee were also excellent.
Uss answered every one of our questions patiently and with great passion. You notice immediately how much he stands behind this project. It was also impressive to learn how significant the plantation is for the region and the many people who work here.
Anyone visiting Sumba who would like to learn more about the island, its agriculture, and its products should definitely not miss this tour. Informative, authentic, and absolutely delicious – a clear recommendation!

An eye opener but also an experience of serenity
Maringi Hotel is like no other. A teaching hotel with every student delight. They work so hard. Each learning skills for their future. My husband and I talk to so many of them. The staff are amazing. Really trying so hard to please you and always with their beautiful smile. The hotel itself is immaculate. The service top notch and the atmosphere relaxing and calm. We spent 5 days at the hotel and enjoyed one tour. Sumba itself shows lots of signs of poverty but the locals are such beautiful people. I highly recommend the experience of Sumba and I highly recommend the Maringi hotel. I can’t remember all the names bit Angli was a gem. Explaining and walking us through every aspect. I remember Riki and Milan at the dining hall and Mario with his head of tight curls. His English is amazing. I had a massage with Angel. For a tiny little thing her massage was excellent. If there is one hotel you’d want to experience in Sumba the ln Meringi is the one. Your experience will be amazing as well as giving these young ones a helping hand at their future

Absolutely Excellent in every way.
Absolutely lovely stay here. First the location a little isolated but that’s was the whole point of being here. The hotel organised tours for us to see the rest of sumba . The atmosphere of the whole area within our hotel was hugh, serene, peaceful, beautiful and welcoming. The rooms were hugh , comfortable bedding , good amenities and hot water . We had an all inclusive which included breakfast lunch and dinner all cooked by student chefs to perfection in presentation and taste. Definitely value for your buck with the all inclusive. The highlight were the students who were the staff. They are all eager to learn to please to attain the highest standards they possibly could offer. It shows in their attitude and their hunger to learn and be the best at what they do without the competitive attitude between each other. Truely I wish I could mention all their names one by one and say thank you but there are so many of them 50 to be exact. A special thank you to Angli who really took us under her wing and made sure we were ok , comfortable and needy of anything. Thank you to Gloria, and Mario who organized our tours and everything to do with requests re meal diet restrictions etc. The foundation is an absolutely wonderful idea which gives students to learn study and graduate as hospitality staff where they would not otherwise obtain due to the poverty of Sumba. Every dollar you spend here goes towards educating the youth of Sumba. A well worth experience. We stayed here 5 nights and could have easily stated a few more but next time as we will be back. Thank you to all the students staff even if I haven’t mentioned you by name we thank you all. Bless all of you that you will attain the richness and success in life you all deserve. The hotel has their own farms growing most of the produce they use in the food as well as a good recycling programme. Well done to the founder of this great establishment. Thank you all once again.
