Superb meal with a view!

A friend from Kigali recommended this restaurant so we walked the half hour from where we were staying. And I’m so glad we did, as it was superb!
Fabulous staff, who spoke excellent English. Our server, Emmanuel K., was especially awesome! We chose a table near the waterfront for lunch (note there is also a fabulous inside dining area if you prefer) — super lovely views! so peaceful!
The friend with whom I was travelling said she comes here often, mostly for the fish. And they do have an excellent menu, with excellent prices.
I loved the service they provided, including the handwashing bowls before and after the meal.
The only real negative was that food took over an hour to be served (we were told it could take up to 40 mins)………gratefully, it was fantastic once it arrived! I loved my meal — it was huge and had everything I wanted … all charcoal cooked … I added pili pili, which made it even better!
My friend told me this is “authentic Rwandan … you can’t get much more Rwandan than this” :)
Such an idyllic spot, with so many different birds and lizards! They also have a hotel attached (we didn’t stay overnight), and apparently dancers at night. Super cool!

A little piece of Rustic/traditional heaven

What a fabulous little piece of Rwanda, great little rooms with excellent shower and comfortable beds, the staff were brilliant and they were happy to help with anything, the Food was excellent too, The only disappointment was the larger room that we swapped to on day 3, the stairs are very scary, wonky and rickerty elderly stay clear and also if you have had a drink, its also very noisy in the larger one upstairs. as it backs directly by the road... but all in all a great stay, its very handy for boat trips to the hot springs directly opposite across the lake. The wildlife particularly birds are present daily puttingb on displays flying past, the nightlife too is great and not far at all. The location is handy for all areas of Gisengi. I would definitely recommend and will return.

Little paradise

Very much enjoyed our stay here. The location is beautiful on the water. There are a lot of birds in the garden and there is an attractively decorated restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful. The bathroom of our room (upstairs) was very impractical with a bath without shower curtain. In addition, there was no drinking water in the room. We did pass this on and would be addressed for future guests.
The mosquito net at our 2 bed was actually unusable, this would be good for a 1 bed.
