Fabulous small hotel!

We loved our stay at the Hostal Oliva. The staff are very welcoming and made us feel at home. There were more than lovely. Beautiful art deco building and elevator. Close to everything. Great value.

Taxes Not Included When You Book Directly in their Website; Beaware

Read the fine print or note the lack of it when booking online directly for hotel because the direct price does not include the 20% Vat and other taxes. Bookings.com and the big hotel sites may be much cheaper bc the hotel tacks it on at the end when you check in. Great location but not discerning or helpful. For example you will get sent to the nearby spanish version worse than starbucks (il fornet) for breakfast to get stale and high priced chain food… not caring or helpful when politely asked questions. You must leave the key every time you exit the place etc. A little bit of a pain. Not worth stay if you pay over 150usd per night otherwise is good. We overpaid for this stay and could have stayed in a luxury hotel for price.

Wonderful owners, excellent location, beautiful building.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hostel Olivia — it has such charm and character. You can tell it must have been a pensione back in the 1980s — the architecture, tile floors, and old-world feel give it a nostalgic touch. The location couldn’t be better, right in the heart of Barcelona, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s simple, clean, and full of personality — a lovely spot for travelers who appreciate authenticity over luxury.

Wonderful location, friendly staff, everything was just as advertised!

Lovely hostel with a variety of room configurations. We had a double with en suite bathroom. Room was modern, well maintained and the staff were so helpful. The location is PERFECT for shopping, people watching, and was central to transportation. Would definitely stay there again.

CLEANLINESS TO IMPROVE, GREAT LOCATION

We stayed for three nights. The property is located on the top floor (fourth) of a historic building. We were given a room (no. 3) with a beautiful view of Passeig de Garcia, on this nothing to say. Room description: two single beds placed side by side, with decoration pillows not suitable for sleeping, removed and put on top of the wardrobe, those for poor quality sleeping under the white cotton bedspread, a useless ranner on foot immediately removed that too, normal / low quality sheets naturally never changed in the three nights, presence of several sockets in the room, presence of small TV never used. Room very noisy because of the street, but this compensates for the view on the main street. Very small bathroom with very small sink, toilet and shower, towels two for face and two for shower, if put on the floor were changed but the quality was bad as they do not dry. Presence of hairdryer suitable for long hair, presence of small soap, paper tissues, paper cups. We come to the sore note, the cleanliness, having a room with the sun beating, on our return, afternoon / evening it was very evident that no one had cleaned on the ground, present dust and hair from the first day, never cleaned on the ground nor room nor bathroom for all three days. Reception made by a kind lady. Expensive price about 550,00 euros for three nights. If there had been a good cleaning it would be justified, but not so.
