A Great Family Holiday!
The rooms may need a little cosmetic updating, but I personally did not notice anything seriously wrong or unpleasant. Most importantly, everything was clean. For me, one of the clearest signs of cleanliness was the white towel provided for the bathroom floor. After a shower, I used it to wipe up the water from the floor, and the towel still remained white. For me, that says a lot about how clean the floors were. Our bed linen was also changed during our stay, and we never had to ask for it.
The food was varied and tasty. Of course, food is always a matter of personal taste and habits, but I personally have nothing negative to say about it.
The staff deserve special praise. Everyone we met was friendly, helpful and professional. The restaurant team worked incredibly well together, the manager was excellent, and I especially remember the lovely hostess at the restaurant entrance. Unfortunately, I do not know her name, but she was such a warm and positive person and always made us feel welcome. The staff were also wonderful with children and always ready to help.
I have seen reviews complaining about the staff, but based on what I witnessed during our stay, I would also encourage guests to think about how they themselves speak to and treat hotel employees. During our six nights there were a few situations involving other guests that honestly made me feel embarrassed for the staff. They work very hard to make everyone’s holiday pleasant, and they deserve the same respect in return.
The pool area is lovely, the location is very good, and the children’s entertainment team was fantastic. The girls working with the children really gave their all.
My only small criticism would be the number of umbrellas around the pool and the usual race for sunbeds. Some guests leave towels on loungers and disappear for long periods, which makes it difficult for others to find a place. As a result, some guests — including children — may end up sitting in direct sunlight.
Many hotels use a simple 30-minute rule: if a guest does not return to their sunbed within 30 minutes, the towel is removed and the lounger becomes available for someone else. Perhaps Meliá Benidorm could also consider a similar system. There are many families with children staying at the hotel, and having to remain in direct sunlight because shaded places and available loungers are limited is not ideal.
Overall, we left Meliá Benidorm with a very positive impression and no real negative feelings about our stay. Spain is beautiful and there are many other places I would still love to visit, but I would absolutely consider returning to Benidorm — and to Meliá Benidorm in particular.

Excellent
( The rooms are a little dark possibly due to the outdated wooden panels on the wall, and could do with a little brightening up, but certainly not a problem)
The levels experience is worth the extra especially at breakfast time, when the meal is served to you from the menu or just as you want, but also a breakfast buffet should you wish.
The lounge area is beautifully clean and relaxing. The only slight problem is the congestion at the hot drinks area, waiting for kettle to boil, waiting for toaster to be ready, and the coffee pod machine itself. There’s nothing really that can solve this problem, but it probably only happens at busy times ie breakfast.
The levels have their own terrace with tables and chairs and also a garden sun lounger terrace.
The swimming pool area is kept clean and plenty of litter bins. The pool snack bar is wonderful with all the snacks you could wish for.
The entertainment is good although we never sat downstairs to watch it, we enjoyed it listening and watching from the cafeteria terrace.
Food, reasonably good, but as we were there in summer 2025 we felt there has been a slight decline. This summer too much pork on the show cooking, and for guests who don’t like or eat pork there wasn’t much other meat to choose. No beef steak show cooking. We were all tired of seeing pork being cooked.
The honeycomb has disappeared, and no plain vanilla ice cream, on the whole rather disappointing food.
Staff were very nice, with a special thank you to Edwin on main reception, who showed me how to use our points to be used as a future booking, Edwin was very thorough and explained really well, and due to his knowledge we have been able to book a return visit to Melia Benidorm in October.
A big thank you to Edwin.
Booking again before departure proves how happy we are to return.
Thank you Melia

Feeding time at the zoo
Big and spacious, not too deep so the kids could swim around in front of our sunlounger, the entertainment team really make an effort with the aqua mat, inflatables and aqua gym.
Really seems to be the attraction and the main reason for the popularity of this hotel.
That is where the positives end.
The canteen (definitely not a restaurant) is the worst I have ever been to and that says a lot.
Referenced to feeding time at the zoo and that is an understatement!!
Queues reaching the lifts at key times, not enough tables for amount of guests, which leaves you wandering around endlessly waiting for a table. The Spanish dont seem to understand what a queue system is and will routinely barge in front of you, weave in and out and when challenged pretend that they don't understand.
We where half board but by the end of the holiday we had had enough of the same repetitive food and being involved in a royal rumble style fight to get food.
This really needs to be addressed and we will not return due to this issue.
The sunbed situation is quite comical, it became one of our highlights watching the stampede in the morning at bang on 9am only to saunter out at 9.30am and grab some sunbeds close to the pool.
They did have someone who started to remove towels from certain sunbeds, however this was targeted at only non Spanish guests, we had a Spanish family next to us who we didnt see until 11am, whilst an English family had been down all morning, nipped to get some food and the towels had been removed on return.
It needs to be all the same rules or nothing at all.
All in all very very average stay, if it wasnt for the pool and the kids enjoying it then would score this stay zero marks.

Thank you for the time you have taken to review your stay.
We appreciate your recognition of our pool area and the efforts our entertainment team makes to enhance aquatic activities for all ages.
We regret the challenges you experienced during dining periods and are reviewing crowd management solutions to improve guest flow. Regarding sunbed allocation, we reinforce equal policy application for all guests through continuous team training and monitoring.
It is heartening to know your children found joy in our aquatic facilities, which remain central to our family-friendly environment.
We hope that you will allow us the opportunity to welcome you back in future.
Best regards,
Begoña Orihuela, Guest Manager

The hotel with queues
The hotel is absolutely massive and is the complete opposite of a boutique hotel. At times, you really do feel like just a number rather than a guest.
The hotel was refurbished back in 2017, and unfortunately, it’s now starting to look a little tired and rough around the edges.
Queues are a constant feature of your stay. You queue for breakfast, dinner and evening meals. You queue at the bar. It feels like you queue for everything.
Mealtimes can feel like going into battle. You have to wind your way through the madding crowds, searching for a table, only to finally sit down with food that is by then half cold.
We also had an issue when we needed an extra blanket. We called room service and were told someone would be with us within 15 minutes. That didn’t happen. After chasing it up several times, we eventually got some help.
Also house keeping wasn’t up to standard for me. They didn’t replenish the milk or towels each day, we had to ask for more plus the coffee cups didn’t get changed so we had to wash them ourselves.
The pool itself is spectacular, but again, remember that you are sharing it with hundreds of other guests. If you miss the towel rush in the morning, which starts at 9am, you may find yourself lying on the grass like we did. Yes, you can pay several thousand pounds for your holiday and still end up lying on the floor!
To sum up, the hotel certainly has its good points, and the pool is fantastic. However, I think the sheer size of the hotel is also the cause of many of the problems I’ve highlighted. If you enjoy large, busy resorts with lots going on, you may love it. But if you prefer somewhere quieter, more personal and relaxed, I’d definitely look elsewhere.

Many thanks for having taken the time to review your stay.
We are pleased you found our pool area spectacular and appreciated certain aspects of our facilities.
We acknowledge your observations about queues during peak periods, which can occur in larger resorts during high season. Our maintenance team conducts regular refurbishments to keep spaces fresh, with recent updates to common areas. Regarding housekeeping standards, we regret any oversight in daily replenishments and have reinforced protocols with our team.
The delayed response to your blanket request does not reflect our usual service efficiency, and we have reviewed our room service procedures.
While our size creates vibrant energy, we understand this atmosphere may not suit guests seeking quieter environments.
We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
Best regards,
