Great stay at western Colombo ❤️ superb and comfortable.staff are very friendly and welcoming. also a bartender (Sahan) is great and his food and mock tails taste too good ❤️ thank you for great service ❤️

Prepare to be disappointed

I can honestly say that my stay at Westeern Hotel was full of nothing but disappointment and misery. The room we stayed in was in quite a bad condition with worn out amenities and uncomfortable beds. The bathroom was not any better! In our original room the toilet would not flush properly and within one day the flush broke entirely. We had to move to another room only to find out that in this room you could only have a shower with boiling hot water as you couldn't reduce the water temperature. In the end we stayed in this room and had to go down one level each morning to have a shower in our previous room. We were given no compensation whatsoever for these inconveniences. There is no housekeeping and Wi-Fi only works in the reception area and on level 4.
I can only speak for the non-AC room but my best guess would be that the AC-room wouldn't be of much better quality. The only pro in my view is the good location and the close proximity to the beach. I definitely will not be making a return visit to Westeern Hotel and would not recommend it to any of my friends or family.

Raj (from UK) ..........Filthy and not pleasant place to stay.... please stay away.

We booked 2 double bed rooms and confirmed over the phone in advance during Christmas break 2016. But, when we got there we were told that no rooms reserved on our name. However, They asked us to wait half an hour to prepare the room. After the wait, we were shown rooms with bed sheets with dirt and hair ( not changed since last guest). Toilets were not properly cleaned too. Person responsible for room service said the they had laundry problem due to bad weather (good excuse....).
When we reported to duty manager. He aggressively responded that this is how we service the room and if you are not happy, you can cancel your booking. No other hotel in Sri lanka would treat a guest in this way. Finally, we had to leave the hotel in the middle of the night to find another hotel (fortunately, a taxi driver gone out of his way to find a good hotel nearby).

Location

The location is good, hotel is recently renovated. Wifi was available only at the reception area and due to renovation no tv's ! The view is fabulous as the hotel is located quite close to the sea, only suitable for solo travellers. There are places to eat close by.

Grosse erreur

Dernière nuit au sri lanka, nous n'avions rien réservé et demandons conseil à notre chauffeur pour trouver une chambre autour de 3000 ou 4000 roupies, dans la continuité de nos 13 nuits précédentes qui étaient au top.
Grosse erreur, il nous amène là et c'est un carnage. Les chambres puent l'humidité avec tâches au mur, cafards, poussière etc ... En voyant le cafard on demande a changer de chambre. Certes, l'humidité était moindre mais il y avait toujours des cafards ...
Et l'emplacement est nul : à 5km du centre ville, aucun restau autour.
Bref, à éviter
