Grime Infested Dump of a Guest House

Couldnt even stop at this place as it smelled so bad of damp and dirt. The carpet was a trip hazzard as all crumpled up plus it was black with dirt and grime which looked like an oil spillage. The furniture was soiled and the kitchen looked like it hadnt been cleaned in months. There were no staff apart from a young man who was helping the manager as he was away on a family matter. All the curtains were closed and the bar wasnt going to be open to the general public, The staff were all away and the chef was away ill, i can only suspect from the state of the kitchen it was due to the unhygenic conditions. I spoke to the manager regarding the state of his premises and he agreed and offered me a full refund which never materialised, i then took the matter up with Lastminute.com who i booked through and again no refund was offered. This place should be shut down and completely gutted and actions should be taken with regards to misrepresentation of the property as the pictures are clearly years out of date. I HAVE NEVER SEEN DIRT LIKE THIS IN MY LIFE. Will try and upload pictures from my phone.

Terrible - avoid at all costs

We visited earlier in the year - they had very little to offer in the way of food - no mineral water, J2o
and truly awful vegetarian meal. The pubs in the village are all worth a visit - Craven Heffer etc

A great disappointment!

We booked the night before for a last minute trip. We arrived shortly before 1900 on a Friday night after going over Ingleborough from Horton. We entered into a cold pub with no customers. The 2 members of staff welcomed us friendly enough and the young (25) trainee manager showed us up to our room which was a twin (the only room available).
Having had a quick shower (they had only provided 1 towel for 2 beds - we couldn't be bothered to ask for another as it was a quick shower, but...) we headed to the bar for a drink and some food. We were the only customers. They had no draught lager (gas problems) so could only offer bottled. The choice of bitter was.......a choice of 1!. But it did taste good. We had a look at the menu but it seemed rather limited and a bit pricey.
We decided to head into Ingleton to find somewhere else and found the Craven Heifer where we got two very filling meals for £18. This place I would definitely recommend as the food and service was excellent. It was quite cold in the pub though as the back door was wide open and it was a chill evening.
We headed back for a last drink. Still nobody else on a Friday night but the bitter choice was now 2, although the new one wasn't ready to be drunk. Finally, about 9.30 a couple of locals came in stayed for 5 minutes and left. We went off to bed ready for an early start.
The beds were uncomfortable and we could feel the springs. However, we did sleep.
We were up at 0600 and left. On leaving we noticed that a double room was un-used with the bed still made, which we could have been offered. We missed the breakfast because it wasn't available until 0900. This is a walking area so it should be available from at least 0800!!
Would I stay again? NO.
However, the young would be manager was excellent and wants to take the place further. I wish him luck and truly hope he improves the place. Making the décor more welcoming would be good and, on cold or even just chill nights, have a bloody big roaring log fire going. Then they might be busy on a Friday night!

Dump

We were greeted by a man who in fact was an ex employee, he explained that the owner had gone away on personal family matter. We asked about something for our dinner for that evening as it was advertised as a grill and restaurant, and it was obvious that what it was. He then said infact the owner was the chef so there was going to be no food available, he did then advise on local eateries in the area, which was helpful. He did then open up his laptop and mentioned we hadnt infact paid for the room and we owed him the money. I had looked on my bank account the morning before we left and knew the money for the b and b had been taken out. I explained this to him but he insisted on us owing him the full amount. But had no card reader as it had been disconected. There was no till to take money either, all monies given was put in a glass behind the bar. We were then taken to out room through a dingy hall way, the carpet was filthy and sticky and stank of damp. It was vile. The matress was around 3 inches thick, the quilt was a summer quilt. We had the worst nights sleep ever. The place was nice and could be made a success. But overall we wouldnt stay there ever again. We didnt bother staying for breakfast we came home. As the bar man had said he was making brekky next morning as the chef wasnt around, but dont be expectant on the eggs as i cant cook eggs. Thats what he said, so great. He also said he had prepared the rooms and if anything was amiss to let him know, as the chamber maid had also done a runner. Oh god. It was minging. Never again.

disappointing

My boyfriend and I dined here whilst staying overnight in the area. Having purchased a voucher (offer was £30 worth of food for £15) we were looking forward to sampling the local brewery beer and treating ourselves to a nice meal as we were lead to believe was the case from the reviews we had read.... wrong! There were no Settle brewery beers on offer, although the Bowland brewery beer from Clitheroe was good, and the only food available was on a chalkboard where you would normally find the specials but we both found something that we like. My boyfriend enjoyed his sausage and mash but sadly my chicken tasted off, the salad was limp with coleslaw that was past its best and hard chips. As there had been no starters on offer we decided to have sweets instead only to be told by the staff that there were none! Unable to take full advantage of the voucher we complained to the staff who couldn't find the manager. We were offered free drinks and told that they were in between chefs by the girl behind the bar, who was on her own and run off her feet serving drinks and meals to a busy pub. Despite this the service was very good but management obviously have issues that need resolving at present and our timing was unfortunate, but I wont be going back in a hurry.
