We stayed one night in August 2026. It was a halfway point to where we were going.
The location isn’t great. It sits across from a bus terminal and mental health clinic. Pandhandlers come up to you as you’re walking. Some businesses look run down from the outside.
Pros
- Parking was reasonably priced at $12
- Large room, clean room
- Quiet, didn’t hear neighbors
- Pierce the maintenance man was great
- Easy, quick check in
- Beautiful drive getting here
Cons
- The air freshener or cologne scent in the lobby is very strong. Would likely bother those who have allergies to scents.
- No signage in parking garage saying to use the far side of the building (opposite conference center) to get to the lobby. There are two sets of elevators, was a bit confusing.
- TV needed to be reset, had to call maintenance but wasn’t a big deal, just worth mentioning
- Had to reset the aircon, wasn’t working
The pizza restaurant wasn’t officially opened yet so couldn’t try.

Great first stay in Ithaca
This is an overall solid Marriott in what is a peculiar location in a great small city. Street flows are strange in Ithaca. Our room was comfortable but was on the back side facing another building, so a little dark and nothing to look at. Staff was excellent and friendly.
I looked at reviews for both this hotel and the nearby canopy and it seems the most often talked about issue is parking. I knew we were going be in and out a lot as we were dropping off our son at school so we used the valet. My experience wiyh them was excellent, especially considering that where they have to park. The cars is not too easy for them to get to. You do have to allow some time especially during busy periods, but they really did the best they could do.
The free breakfast with my titanium status was excellent full breakfast not Continental like a lot of other hotels do. They do supposedly have a coffee machine in the lobby, but I was told it had been broken for “quite some time.”
We really enjoyed our time at the hotel and especially in Ithaca overall. We look forward to going back for parents weekend in October.

Four Nights in Ithaca: A Family Stay at the Downtown Marriott
My son and I spent four nights exploring the Finger Lakes, choosing the Ithaca Marriott in Downtown Commons as our base. Its location right across from the Commons gave us easy access to plenty of restaurants and shops. We stayed in room 912, which had two queen beds, and booked with Bonvoy points. The staff were friendly, and our room was clean and equipped with a microwave and fridge. While we appreciated being close to Cornell, we wouldn’t pay more than $250 per night, as the price primarily reflected the convenience of being near the university. The hotel provided free water. For parking, guests could self-park for $12 per day or use valet for $30. Self-parking was the better option: the garage at 126 East Greene Street allowed parking right next to a Marriott elevator, which took guests straight to the lobby.
The hotel’s location proved to be one of its best features. It was within walking distance of many Ithaca restaurants: Thompson and Bleecker, Food Lab, Hound and Mare, and College Town Bagels, to name a few. Ithaca Commons also had plenty of shops, from souvenir stores to places selling local crafts, T-shirts, and pottery. We enjoyed a 25-minute walk from the hotel to Ithaca Falls and then continued on to Cornell University. The Cascadilla Gorge Trail entrance was just 0.3 miles away, perfect for an easy nature walk. For those who preferred not to walk, the hotel offered a shuttle to Cornell University (just remember to book in advance).
Our main reason for visiting Ithaca was to explore the nearby state parks: Buttermilk Falls, Taughannock, Robert Treman, and Watkins Glen. Each park is within a 15-minute drive, except Watkins Glen, which is about 40 minutes away in its own town. The drives were easy, and after experiencing both towns, I preferred staying in Ithaca over Watkins Glen. Other towns such as Geneva, Skaneateles, and Corning are an hour away, with Canandaigua and Naples being an hour and a half away.
Although the hotel offered breakfast and dinner at its restaurant, we didn’t try it, opting instead for the many excellent dining options nearby, most just a short walk or drive away. There was one minor quirk: guests who ordered only coffee were not allowed to sit in the restaurant area, even if it was empty. Still, this wasn’t a problem, since the adjacent lobby sitting area was comfortable, with lots of seating and an interesting selection of books to browse while we relaxed.
Overall, we had a very nice stay at the Ithaca Marriott. If the price is reasonable, I would happily stay here again.

Most of the staff were pleasant. But there were a couple at the front desk who seemed as if it was a little bit of a hassle to wait on the patrons. Very clean and beautiful hotel. Well maintained and the staff at the restaurant were incredible! Both morning and evening. Beautiful location for exploring the area for waterfalls.

This is a great hotel in a great location in the center of Ithaca. Clean, modern, spacious room. Recommended.
