Wonderful Stay, Highly recommend

Very nice Gasthaus with a restaurant. Our room was nice and roomy with a big bathroom, but small shower. There was a desk and two chairs, a fridge, hair dryer and a safe. Breakfast was excellent with deli meats, breads, boiled eggs, hot chocolate and juices. There was no elevator. The Wifi was not great. The location was beautiful with a view of Hohenzollern Castle. Lots of free parking area. We would highly recommend this beautiful hotel in a quiet and peaceful location.

Incredibly Miserable

I don't understand any of the good reviews here. Incredibly bad hotel. Some of the light switches didn't work. Hotel staff aren't interested in anything. Breakfast was served once and then nothing was refilled. By 9am there were only a couple of slices of cheese and 2 types of sausage left. Just so you understand, for a hotel that costs €120 you should at least have a little choice at breakfast. And nothing was cleared away when we wanted to sit down at a table. If I ever need accommodation again for a wedding I'd rather stay in a holiday apartment... By the way, be careful on the first floor as there is a hole under the carpet in the hallway. Don't let anyone trip and hurt themselves.

Ideally situated for visiting Burg Hohenzollern

Hotel Brielhof is ideally situated for visiting Burg Hohenzollern (5 minutes drive, which means you can be there early, before any masses would arrive) .
Rooms are maybe not that modern, but more than adequate. Some have views on the castle.
Dinner is good and tasty albeit a bit on the expensive side. But you do get plenty of vegetables (which for me is a big plus and deserves a compliment in meat focused Germany).
The continental breakfast is good with enough options to choose from.

Okay option for visiting Schloss Hohenzollern

We stayed for one night, and for one reason. The hotel is closest to Schloss Hohenzollern. It is unfortunately much closer to a very busy dual carriageway (carefully not shown in any of the photographs), so it is very noisy.
The main guy who checked us in also does the serving in the restaurant. It's a typical rural German hotel, very rustic inside.
The restaurant was very expensive for Germany, but the food was okay. Breakfast was adequate, if uninspiring.

A gem of a place

Situated at the base of the castle this is a place to be. The rooms are very well appointed and suitable in size without being spacious. There is plenty of onsite parking.
The restaurant has great ambiance with good food. The highlight is the staff, great sense of humour.
Traffic noise from the highway can be a distraction as can the somewhat slow internet.
