The Surprising Hotel Himilayian Regency

On our way to Darjeeling, we needed a place to stay, rest & refuel before heading up the mountain. We booked this for the price and the good reviews. They were not wrong. Like all budget properties, they turn on the hot water, on request, but do so very quickly. I rate this property 5 stars, not because it's a 5 star property, but because you get a very clean looking & clean smelling room, great a/c, funky, fun decor, super customer service at a great price. They exceeded my expectations for a budget property. The only small negative, is that it's on a noisy street, but that's what ear plugs are for right? But its walking distance frrom several restaurants. We went and had a drink at the other property we were considering & so glad we didn't stay there. $30 more, out of the way & not impressed by decor or service. If ever in India again, we would definitely stay here & highly recommend!

Nice budget hotel

Stayed with family for couple of nights on our way back from Darjeeling. This hotel has been renovated recently & hence the rooms were in perfect shape except a few, which must be taken care by management. The AC, TV & geyser, all were in perfect working condition. They have kitchen & not a restaurant. The behavior of the front desk was cordial along with very good back up services. Centrally located right on Hill cart road & at a close proximity from the Bus stand. Highly recommended for budget travelers.

good hotel at a budget price

Its located on the main road and has decent rooms as compared to its tariffs. The staff attitude is satisfactory. Local Transport is readily available right in front of the hotel at all times. Apart from the aforementioned pros, the cons are the hotel has no restaurant and no elevator either. So it is advisable to rent a room on the first floor if you have trouble climbing up the stairs. Decent Food is available adjacent to this hotel though in a couple of restaurants.
