De openbare warmwaterbaden met een panoramisch uitzicht wachten u op bij Sasara Ryokan, op slechts 8 minuten lopen van het JR Gero treinstation. Traditionele meergangenmaaltijden worden geserveerd in de Japanse tatami-kamers.

Lovely staff. Rooms and hotel itself was a little dated but the staff made up for it. Food was good and the private onsen in our rooms was amazing.

The half board includes breakfast and dinner and is an amazing set of omakase each time. Wonderful Japanese food that is completely satisfying.

Great hospitality - Staff are friendly and helpful. Very warm experience
Onsen & room - Clean and decent with Japanese design (Apply to the one inside the room & public onsen)
Lobby - Filled with the western classic design
For sure, we will return for 3rd times visit to Sasara.

Sorry but no.
I honestly cannot recommend this hotel.
Stayed two nights there. It’s 15 minutes walk uphill from JR station (I later found out hotel provides free taxi services refund trip though).
The hotel itself was probably nice two decades back. Just not anymore.
Don’t be fooled by the food they post on their website, trust me, you get nothing like that. We had bean curd (which was bitter) and miso and pickles and main one day, strawberry mousse as starter the other, crab tasted so fishy I couldn’t swallow it. Most importantly, they serve their rice COLD (probably has to do with them preparing everything in advice to minimize the time they need to serve). Female server also rushed us through everything and gave us a mini lecture on how we need to put out the ‘Please Clean the Room’ tag before we go out when we were about to eat (she was rushing by through every courses we had ended up finishing dinner within 35 minutes).
Hotel staff at front desk was very helpful though.
The only good thing about this place would be the in-room onsen and the very comfortable beddings.
Plenty of better choices at similar prices in the area.

Stayed there for two nights.
In-room onsen was good, staff at reception excellent. Food was simply terrible. Rice was cold (personally it’s simply unacceptable in any Japanese restaurant except for sushi may be?), the chef seems to enjoy making fusion dishes (and except that they were unappetising). To name but a few, we had strawberry mousse for starter, tofu (which was bitter) and pickles with miso for mains, and who’d put diced apple in an apple sorbet?? (Felt as though I was biting into ice cubes). The waitress was also extremely impatient and rushed us through our meals (we finished our dinners within 35 minutes, breakfasts 20).
