Okay if ya know what to expect - but REALLY hard to find

This was my very first Riad. I just got to Morocco and the taxi dropped me just before the first small pathway since no cars were fitting on that trail. He pointed to the path, told me go right there and look to the left for the sign. Lie! The Riad was like 12 turns and twists down a small maze of intersecting pathways... with NO SIGN. A local was kind enough to walk me there. GPS was useless and I ended up hand drawing a map to find my way to the main street and back... and I still got turned around.
I was shocked to find I had booked a shared room. Could have been my fault or maybe the booking was misleading? There were two bunkbeds, end to end, in a space barely big enough for the beds. They had a little curtain for privacy and four small lockers at the end of the narrow space. And it was fine. I wasn't there for the room. The front door was really difficult to unlock and enter but the space was clean enough and the rooftop was cool. The bathroom/shower was upstairs from the room. So I guess it's okay for the price. I'd be sure to get a private space next time, but "next time" I would find a place off the main street and not so hard to locate.

The perfect hostel and host!

Dar Suncial was such a lovely break from the usual hustle and bustle style hostels.
I was in a 4 person room but in the way the beds are designed - it feels like you have your own little pod. The design is simple but offers great privacy and a nice set-up for charging mobile phones / cameras as well as a great storage space for storing luggage and bags.
The owner, Easam was really friendly and happy to share her own stories about Morocco and even sent me a list of good food recommendations in Marrakech whilst also saving me some money with good pointers.
The shower is shared but used by one person at a time and so feels like your own personal shower - simple but does the job and they had plenty of hot water.
I didn’t have the free breakfast each day because I wanted to try restaurants in the Medina however, the food others were eating looked really nice and if I’d wanted to save some money I think it would have been a great breakfast.
Dar Suncial itself is set back off Rue De Kasbah and there were plenty of shops, cafes and local sellers in the area…all of whom were very friendly and willing to help.
I’d give the overall stay a 9/10 - it’s an inexpensive place with a great host and perfect for those who don’t want to be stuck in a hostel with 8 other people in a room.
