Great place to stay

We only had 1 night here before our Gorilla Trek and Safari. Wished we could have stayed longer. The rooms were very nice and roomy. Great view from our balcony, the ground da and the pool were very nice. The best part was the great staff, Tina and staff were so helpful and friendly. Will return if in Entebbe again

Karibu is a comfortable option

I stayed with Karibu for two nights. It was very comfortable and the people were very hospitable. The food is fine but I didnt expect much. The rooms were clean and well enough appointed for our needs. The pool area is nice but a beautiful environment to relax.
*disclaimer: I used an outfitter to handle my accomodations so I can't speak to value for the money.

Noisy place, sleep determent

Staff were very pleasant.
However, whilst having dinner the experience was ruined by a guide and 4 Indians who were very, very loud in the adjacent reception area. Why was this meeting staged there, when people were having dinner? Not acceptable and I complained. A word was had with the guide but by then my experience had been totally ruined. This is very bad management and not acceptable and should not have happened!
On the 3rd night, I was woken up at 02.30 by guests arriving late in the room next to mine. The noise continued for some time in this building, which is like an echo chamber by these ignorant guests and again bad management. Despite going downstairs and complaining, yet again I was told sorry.
Also, when I asked my Ugandan (black) guide why he didn't come into the hotel he told me he didn't want to pressure me. However, I learnt later that despite being a native Ugandan; guides are not allowed into where they are staying! This is really terrible and I have read a review on this platform, where some guests wanted to have dinner with their guide, but despite offering to pay extra the involvement of the guide at dinner was refused!
On my return, before being taken to the airport I was put in a dayroom, which was adjacent to the reception. The people in reception might as well have been in the room with me. Chance of sleep: slim and none!

Hi Perry,
Wow! What a scathing review – possibly the harshest in our 15 years as a business!
I’d like to address the two separate issues you had with other guests at the hotel making noise – those who were talking in reception during dinner, then others who were loud entering their room during the night.
I believe that reviewing the behavior of other guests is an unfair reflection of our hotel’s profile in general. As you’ve noted, on both occasions our staff intervened and politely spoke with the guests involved. However, this is not Faulty Towers, and as much as I wish I could occasionally channel my inner Basil – one must be respectful to all guests and simply cannot mention the war, nor march into a room at 3am to demand that people be quiet!
What is the most disappointing and hurtful to read however, as a Ugandan company, is your perception that your “native” guide was not allowed at the property. After reading your reviews we have spoken with your guide Paul as well as the team at Great Lakes Safaris to ensure there is no confusion – which as it turns out - there is not.
All guides who arrive with guests are always welcome; we have a great relationship with Paul and all other guides on the circuit. Most often stay around to chat with their guests about the trip (you complain about this very thing in the first line of your review).
It is true that Karibu is closed to the public, and just to be very clear, this applies to anyone, regardless of ethnic background, who is not booked at the hotel. We do this to maintain a certain level of service, food quality and ambiance (clearly not to everyone’s’ standards, but we do try!).
We also prepare our daily dinner menu fresh, and only for the number of people booked on the day to minimize waste. Your reference to another review where a guide was “not allowed” to dine with his guests (which I recall), was due to the lack of capacity to serve an extra cover at the last minute – not for any other reason that you may be inferring.
I do hope despite your misgivings at our property and others on the trip, you enjoyed your time in Uganda.

Cutest little hotel near to entebbe airport

10 - 15 min drive from Entebbe airport so perfect for a night or two before moving on to your next destination.
We arrived late so never got to experience the accommodation to the full and would have liked to have seen it in daylight & see the pool etc but from
9pm on arrival and 5.30 am checkout our stay was great.
The staff were super friendly and helpful. You could tell they were tired but they made us snacks and let us stay up for a few drinks.
Breakfast starts at 5am and is delicious with plenty of variety (the overnight oats - wow!) but you can get your breakfast to take out too. Dinner had ended by the time we arrived but the kitchen still prepared us snacks (a Rolex and avocado salad oh and a banana bread - again delicious)
Room was big and comfortable with everything we needed.
Our stay was organised via butuu safaris & adventurelust who we would also highly recommend. Buutu were at the airport waiting to pick us up and the following morning to get us back to the airport. Great guys who have been brilliant during our whole Ugandan stay
