Perfect

The hostel is great, the customer service is unbeatable, they are super friendly like the people who stay there. We have gone in winter when it was very cold and the room was the perfect temperature. The bathrooms are very clean as the kitchen. I forgot something there and as soon as I told them they sent it to me.
I will come back.

4 days of nightmare

Disappointing Experience – Not Recommended for Short-Term Travelers
Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing stay at this property. Things seemed fine at check-in—Chris was initially welcoming—but his attitude shifted to passive-aggressive shortly after I mentioned my plan to store my belongings before moving to Warsaw. He strongly pushed me to leave my things in a shared basement in another building, even though I explained I had government documents and electronics. He admitted that five people had access to that storage space, which made me very uncomfortable.
Upon arrival, I noticed that most of the guests weren't tourists but long-term residents. In my room, there was a woman who stayed in bed all day, eating and talking loudly while I tried to sleep. She also positioned herself with her head right next to my locker, watching me every time I opened it. I didn’t feel safe storing valuables like my passport or phone and kept them with me at all times.
One of the biggest issues is that they mix long-term and short-term guests in the same rooms, which creates a very uncomfortable dynamic. Long-term guests often act as if they "own" the space, giving silent treatment or dirty looks. In my experience, long-term hostel guests often treat shared spaces like private rentals, which doesn’t work in a hostel setting. Short-term travelers usually want to socialize, not feel alienated. This issue could be solved by placing long-term guests in separate rooms.
All lower bunks were given to long-stay guests. I was promised by Chris that I'd be moved to a lower bunk after a day or two, but that never happened. My upper bunk was extremely uncomfortable. Even though it was 21°C outside, it felt like 32–35°C in bed. I couldn’t sleep under the duvet on the first night—I had to use a towel instead.
On the second day, I asked for just a duvet cover. Chris told me to leave it and he'd place one on my bed. Six hours later, nothing had been done. I returned to reception and spoke with Thomas, who refused to assist me unless I spoke Polish or Russian. When I asked for someone who spoke English, he refused again. When Chris returned, he apologized and gave me a used duvet with visible ketchup stains and a bad smell, even though I only asked for a cover. I decided not to complain again just to avoid more frustration.
When I told Chris what happened with Thomas, he accused me of lying and said he would “check the cameras.” At checkout, I told him I would leave a bad review. He responded that I could write whatever I wanted—he simply didn’t care.
As someone who has worked in hospitality for 11 years, I found the level of service and professionalism here completely unacceptable. Even when I couldn’t speak a guest’s language, I always tried my best to help and make them feel welcome. That basic level of care was missing here.
Suggestions for Management:
Retrain your staff on basic hospitality and customer service.
House long-term guests in dedicated rooms separate from short-term travelers.
Maintain proper cleanliness standards for bedding and shared areas.
Create a safer, more respectful environment for all guests.
Sadly, this experience left a very bad impression. I would not return or recommend this hostel to others—especially not for short-term stays.

Second time in this hostel

Hostel located in central Gdansk. Its near tram, bus and rail stations.
Easy access to Sopot, and Gdynia the two must see. Normal fares but without breakfast.
Not warm enough when weather is cold.
Clean to some extent but not like before, maybe ownership changed.

Very good hostel

I was little worried because of the reviews, but when I arrived I felt definitely ppl were reviewing another hostel. The hostel overall was v.good and super clean (room, bathrooms, ....), super nice and friendly staff, room and bed v.good, breakfast included and v.good, great location very close to old town and touristic area, cheap hostel. Will recommend it to anyone going to Gdansk and will stay there again for sure whenever I go back to Gdansk
