Great Place

I’d had a long, hot walk from Astorga on the Camino. It was a relief to arrive at La Candela on the eastern edge of Rabanal, which is a very small town. I was quickly checked in and shown to my spacious, spotlessly clean room with a desk, chair, tv, and private bath. There is a comfortable common room, a bar/restaurant, and two outdoor seating areas. The proprietor is friendly and helpful. In addition to the Camino traffic, the bar is popular with the local residents. The town of Rabanal is just a 4-minute walk away, and features some hostels, a few places to eat, a store with a few supplies (also prepares vegetarian food), and an old church.

A Welcome Oasis

After a long and tiring hike from Astorga as a part of the Camino, it was with relief we found the lovely oasis of La Candela. We were welcomed warmly and quickly checked in. The facility is modest, but clean and well-maintained. We enjoyed a well-prepared lunch and the staff did laundry for us for a very reasonable fee. For anyone hiking the Camino who wants a private room and bath in a well run and welcoming hotel/hostal, we highly recommend La Candela.

Out of town oasis

We arrived as a group of six peregrinos. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The star of the accommodation was the showers, powerful with loads of hot water. Comfortable beds. The peregrino meal was delicious. We were lazy and stayed in the bar for a few drinks. Functional but lacked atmosphere. Good place to stay, but a bit pricy compared to what we were used to,

Welcome Break

Arrived at the hostel travelling from Astorga. Whilst just outside the town very convenient and the first stop on the road. Sat outside and had a few very enjoyable beers, although on a road surprisingly quiet. Room was a great size all very modern and clean with great walk in shower.

Spotless and welcoming

Ok, to be fair - everywhere else appears to be closed, but I booked in advance through booking.com.
Great value. Spotless new rooms and a functional bar. The resident proprietor is a really nice guy and the food is good rural Spanish.
