The location of this motel cannot be beaten - right on the beach! Seating and tables, as well as fire pits, with wood available to purchase right on site!

The bed seemed smaller than a queen size and was a bit bouncy when you moved disturbing the other person. The room was mostly clean but there were some cobwebs in the room and bathroom. The continental breakfast was only coffee and packaged oatmeal, nothing else. When they came in to refresh the room, they swapped out the towels and cleaned, but they didn’t even make the bed, which we found a little strange. It was cheaper than most places, so if you’re not expecting much, give it a shot, otherwise I would not recommend.

Okay for short beach stay
I can understand why folks who stay in the motel portion are disappointed. It is an old place. You have to ask at the front for a hairdryer. Nothing serious approaching breakfast (old buns). But we sprang for the deluxe condo for 2 nights / pricey but half the price of waterfront on up in Door County. The condo was spacious and directly on Lake Michigan. Full kitchen with stove, large frig, and stocked plates, pans, and utensils. Beds were okay but pillows flat as rock. Bear in mind that the walls are very thin. Best part: terrific gas grill. The beach is clean with chairs and fire pits.

To begin with the good, the property location was very nice. It made access to downtown very easy. It was nice to have fire pits on the beach for evening enjoyment. However, the beach chairs provided were dilapidated, many completely unusable, but remained as beach trash. The property is in bad need of a paint/stain job on the exterior. Our shower was filled with 2 inches of water by the end of a shower due to lack of proper drainage. Our bathroom door wouldn’t even shut, so you better be really comfortable with your roommate! We spent several days at the property and had no issues with noise from our neighbors, so it was relaxing in that manner. However, the air conditioner in our room was LOUD-like freight train loud. My biggest irritation during our stay though was my key. I made sure not to have by my phone or credit cards, but I had to have it reset EVERY DAY! I could never count on it working, so I’m glad it was never a problem to get it reset. I still don’t know why they wouldn’t give me a whole new keycard. I feel like there is so much promise in this property, but it feels like the owners have decided to just let it die.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, UNSAFE ATMOSPHERE
FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.
My family and I travel often, and never have we been treated with such abysmal customer service than we have at Algoma Beach Motel. We are respectful of shared spaces, clean up after ourselves, and aren't excessively active. We checked in around 4pm, got to our room, and immediately spent time at the beach. We stopped back at our room for about 10 minutes to change before dinner. We got back to the motel to settle in at around 8-830pm, and started to unpack our things and get ready to play a card game. Around 9pm, we received a call from the front desk stating that the downstairs folks complained that it sounds like "elephants" up here and we need to keep it down. We were just unpacking our things, nothing wild, but I answered with enthusiasm that I would let my kids and partner know to keep the noise down. 5 minutes later, the complainant from downstairs showed up at our door in anger, in front of our children, and wouldn't leave. He shoved his foot in the door so I couldn't shut it, and only backed away when my partner stepped up to the door. We thought that would be the end of it, but the hotel attempted to call again and left us a voicemail saying that we were now required to move rooms to the bottom floor. We specifically chose a second floor room for safety, as the bottom floor rooms have two doors that open directly to the outside, and I suggested that the people below us could move instead, but I was told "don't you try and argue with me, you either move rooms or check out tomorrow."
We secured much more family-friendly lodging down the road.
