A Perfect Base for Exploring Basalt and Beyond!
My stay at Basalt Mountain Inn was everything I could have hoped for—a charming, comfortable retreat in the heart of historic downtown Basalt. The location truly can't be beaten; right on Midland Avenue, you're within easy walking distance to delightful restaurants, cozy cafés, local art galleries like Ann Korologos Gallery, and the lively Basalt Sunday Market.
What stood out most was how ideal the inn was for enjoying outdoor adventures. With Aspen and Snowmass only a short 20-minute drive away, we enjoyed skiing all day and returned to the peace and quiet of Basalt in the evenings, away from the hustle of the resort towns. For fly-fishing enthusiasts, the famous Frying Pan River is within walking distance, making this inn an unbeatable choice.
The room was immaculate—spacious, modern, and thoughtfully designed with useful amenities like a kitchenette, comfortable beds, and excellent Wi-Fi. Breakfast was complimentary, fresh, and convenient for starting busy days early.
The staff was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, always ready to share local tips and ensure our stay was comfortable.
Overall, Basalt Mountain Inn offers incredible value, especially if you appreciate easy access to both town amenities and outdoor recreation. Highly recommended for couples, families, and adventure lovers alike!

dishonest management
Unable to travel due to flight cancelation from Winter Storm Fern and attempted to cancel reservation the day prior to arrival. Spoke with hotel manager first, who was adamant that Expedia never allows this (I know this is not true as Expedia has agreed to cancelation for similar circumstances in the past). I asked him if he would agree to cancel reservation and not charge if Expedia called and okayed this. He stated clearly he would. I called Expedia customer service and they called him. He refused to cancel the reservation. Expedia sent me an email documenting this, Hotel manager called me later in the afternoon to tell me Expedia never called him which was a blatant lie as the communication from Expedia included his name which I never mentioned to Expedia. He offered a free night stay in the future "if we were ever in the area" which won't happen as I live on the East Coast and was traveling to Aspen for a conference. Why not cancel the reservation and not charge instead? I would avoid this place at all cost. Completely dishonest management.

From my understanding this place may have changed ownership and I am warning anyone about this place before booking.
I arrived to the property to find no one but a note to call. A young gentleman in flip flops seemed bothered that I wanted to check

We entered the room and immediately felt this was a 1 Star Hotel at best.
Worn carpets
Strange stains on the green couch.
I pulled the bed sheets to inspect and saw stains on not only the pillows but the sheets as well.
The bathroom has discoloration in the shower and it honestly felt like a dirty cheap motel.
I questioned the front desk person who seemed bothered that I told him the room was dirty.
There were extra bedding in a broken closet that looked as if they were used by someone else.
I decided to leave the property and not stay at this dirty dump. The front desk attendant refused to refund me and got into a shouting match . I will be taking legal action to get a refund.

Not a good repeat experience
We stayed at your place last year and had a wonderful experience. Your place is in a great location in our favorite little town of Basalt. It appeared then that the old motel at this location had been purchased and restored very nicely into a small boutique hotel with really nice bath fixtures, etc.
However, this year was a far different experience. We were in Room 3 for 4 nights starting on a Monday and checking out on Friday. We found the furniture (tables) to be very worn, thread bare bathmats, extremely dirty corners in the shower, very dirty corners between the toilet and shower and peeling paint above the sink.
No housekeeping was done on Thursday as your sign under the TV stated. We assumed housekeeping would be there to empty trash and resupply the coffee maker and the shampoo dispenser but nothing was touched on Thursday. Shampoo dispenser should have been refilled before we arrived as it was low to start with.
If anything was needed after hours a phone number was in the lobby. Doesn’t do much good if you can’t access the lobby to get the phone number.
Breakfast while minimally adequate usually was not ready at 7:00. It appeared that the person responsible for getting the breakfast ready was just getting started at setting things up at 7:00 am.
We want this to be a constructive review and not just a disgruntled customer as we have stayed with you before and had a great experience. We won’t be back until I hear from someone else who has stayed here that things have changed. It was not worth the $220/night+taxes that we paid for our 4 night stay. Sorry for this review but we think you can do much better.

Perfect Place to Stay for Aspen Snowmass Ski Trip
Stayed at the Basalt Mountain Inn for a ski trip, and it was the perfect spot! Basalt is one of the closest areas to stay in for skiing the Aspen Snowmass mountains, making it super convenient for getting to both Snowmass and Aspen. The rooms were comfortable and very clean.
Manish, the manager, was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the check-in kiosk made arrival a breeze. Having breakfast available was a huge plus—great for grabbing a quick bite before hitting the slopes. The location is also fantastic, right in the town of Basalt, with easy walking access to great restaurants and coffee shops. Highly recommend for a hassle-free and comfortable stay!
