Pretty awful

The room was clean and quite comfortable to sleep in. That's all one can say positively about this place. The building itself is in terrible shape. I am surprised that something like this is allowed to be open for business. It was $60 per night which I consider high price for this level. Literally nothing worked. There wasn't even a trash can in the room. Avoid this place unless you just need a place to drop over night on the way through.

Decent hotel for the price paid

I stayed at this motel for two nights during early May. The price I paid was just $45. per night and that included the tax. Overall the room I had was pretty good in that it was clean, (no creepy crawlies were spotted) the AC worked fine, the bed (king size) was very comfortable and the TV w/remote, mini-fridge and microwave were all in good working order. The free Wifi that the hotel provides worked great. The bathroom is kind of small with the tub/shower combo but I had plenty of hot water for a shower and the water pressure was very adequate in doing so.
The only negative thing I could say about my room is I was told that they had a fire there awhile back and in the case of my room (#101) there was still some water damage to the walls, and ceiling in a couple of spots. Nothing big mind you, just a little paint and minor wall repair and the room would be first rate in my opinion.
Now as for the hotel overall I don't have a lot to say other than they have a pool but it was shut down and filled with green, scummy water. Fortunately I wasn't interested in swimming anyway. The ice machine was broken so if you, the customer want ice you will have to bring it in from a store. The continental breakfast is included with your room rate but it was only the typical cold cereals, (choice of Cheerios, Fruit Loops, or Corn Flakes) pastries, coffee, and juices (Apple or OJ)
Bottom line is if you just happen to be passing through Rusk, TX late at night and are just looking for a comfortable bed for the night this would be a good option. But if you expect more than that I would suggest a hotel in nearby Jacksonville as they have several of the more upscale type. This hotel does allow pets for an extra $10. per night according to a sign in the lobby.

Not for family

The bed was comfortable and price was certainly acceptable. However, this is NOT a family friendly place. The shower/bath are terrible. We did not attempt to eat breakfast. AC/Heater unable to adjust , pillows were VERY small for bed.
